Booking conditions
Before you book.
The conditions that apply when you book a trip with us.
Updated 3 November 2026
Our contract with you
These conditions apply to every trip you book with CoinHolidays, Tashkent, Uzbekistan. In them, “we” and “us” mean CoinHolidays, and “you” means everyone named in the booking.
Your contract with us has two parts: the written proposal you accept, with its day-by-day itinerary, its price and its list of what is included, and these conditions. Where your proposal says something different on a particular point, the proposal applies.
Asking for a proposal is free and commits you to nothing. To book, you accept the proposal and these conditions and pay the deposit, or the full price if you book 30 days or less before the start. Your booking is confirmed, and the contract between us begins, when that payment has reached us and we have confirmed the booking to you in writing. We start booking hotels, trains and other services from then.
The person who makes the booking must be 18 or over. They accept these conditions for everyone in the booking and are responsible for paying for it.
We may change these conditions from time to time. Your booking is governed by the version in force on the day we confirm it.
Prices and what is included
The prices on this site are guide prices per person, to show what a trip usually costs. They are not offers. The price per person depends on how many of you travel together, the dates and the hotels you choose.
Your proposal gives the price of your trip in US dollars and lists what it includes and what it does not. Usually included: hotels or guesthouses with breakfast, a private guide, a private car and driver, the trains and domestic flights in the itinerary, entrance fees to the sites in it, and airport transfers. Usually not included: international flights, visas and fees charged at borders, most lunches and dinners, travel insurance, camera fees at some monuments, tips, and activities paid for locally, such as horse riding at Song-Kul. Apart from your own spending, anything you will pay for yourself in the country is listed in your proposal.
The price in a proposal is firm, but we hold no rooms or seats until your booking is confirmed. If, by the time you book, a hotel or train in it has filled or its price has gone up, we tell you before we confirm and offer an alternative, with its price. If you do not accept it, we return anything you have paid, in full.
Once your booking is confirmed, the price does not go up. If hotels, trains or fuel become more expensive, or exchange rates move, that is our cost, not yours. The price changes if you change the trip (see “Changes you ask for”), and in one other case only.
That case is a new or higher tax or fee that a government imposes after we confirm your booking and that applies to your trip, such as a tourist tax. We then pass on the actual increase and nothing more. We tell you in writing, showing how it is worked out, no later than 20 days before the trip starts; after that we cannot ask for it. You may pay it, or cancel the trip and get back everything you have paid. If such a tax or fee falls instead, we pass on the saving.
Paying for your trip
The trip price is the total price of your confirmed booking, for everyone in it. To confirm your booking, you pay a deposit of 30 per cent of the trip price. The balance is due 30 days before the trip starts. If you book 30 days or less before the start, you pay the full price when you book.
Prices are in US dollars. You pay against our written invoice, which sets out how to pay. The price is the same whichever way you pay. Your bank's charges for sending a payment are yours; our bank's charges for receiving it are ours. You never pay guides or drivers for anything in your booking.
If the balance has not reached us by the day it is due, we remind you. If it has still not arrived 7 days after our reminder, we may cancel your booking, and the cancellation charges apply as if you had cancelled on that day.
We make every refund within 14 days of the day it becomes due, back the way you paid, unless we agree another way with you.
If you cancel
You may cancel at any time. Tell us in writing: an email or a written message to us is enough. Your cancellation counts from the day it reaches us, and we confirm that we have received it.
We charge a share of the trip price, by how many days before the first day of the trip your cancellation reaches us: More than 60 days: the deposit 60 to 31 days: 50 per cent 30 to 8 days: 75 per cent 7 days or less, or if you do not arrive: 100 per cent
We keep the charge from what you have paid and refund the rest. If you have paid less than the charge, we invoice you for the difference.
If only some of your party cancel, the charges apply to their share of the trip price. Because the price per person depends on how many travel together, we then work out the price for the others again and tell you what it is. The charges and the new price together never come to more than the trip price you booked.
Once the trip has started, there is no refund for services you do not use, for example if you leave early or miss a day.
These charges do not apply to the Turkmen part of a trip when the Turkmen visa is refused (see “Turkmenistan”), or when you cancel because of events beyond our control as described under “Events beyond our control”. Cancellation cover in your travel insurance can pay them if you have to cancel for a reason your policy covers.
Changes you ask for
Until your booking is confirmed, we change the proposal as often as you like, at no cost.
After that, ask us in writing, and we make the change if we can. You pay any difference in price, and any charge a hotel, railway or airline makes for the change; we tell you the cost before we make it. Dropping part of the trip, or one of the travellers, counts as a cancellation of that part, and the cancellation charges apply to it.
Train and plane tickets, visas and permits carry each traveller's name as it is written in the passport, so send us your names exactly as they appear there. Correcting a name later can cost a reissue fee, and for Turkmenistan it can mean a new visa application.
During the trip, ask your guide or message us. We change what we can, and agree any extra cost with you first. In Turkmenistan, the route approved with your visa cannot be changed on the way.
If we change or cancel your trip
We sometimes have to make small changes: a different guide or driver of the same standard, a different car, or visits in a different order. We tell you about them as soon as we can.
If we have to make a significant change before your trip, such as replacing a hotel named in your proposal or leaving out a place, we tell you as soon as we know. We offer an alternative of the same or a higher standard at no extra cost. You may accept it, or cancel and get back everything you have paid. If you choose an alternative of a lower standard instead, we refund the difference in price.
Train tickets in Uzbekistan go on sale only about 45 to 60 days before travel, and we buy yours as soon as sales open. If a train in your itinerary is full even so, we book another train or a private car for that journey at no extra cost and tell you; if this changes your trip significantly, you have the choices described above.
If we have to cancel your trip before it starts, we tell you as soon as we know and refund everything you have paid; if you prefer, we offer you other dates or another trip instead. If we cancel for a reason within our control, we also compensate you for the losses this causes you, such as flights you can no longer use.
Events beyond our control
Some events neither you nor we can prevent: border closures, government action, severe weather, natural disasters, epidemics, unrest, and roads closed by landslides, floods or snow. Turkmenistan, for one, has closed its land borders at short notice.
If, before your trip starts, such an event at or near a place on your route makes the trip impossible, unsafe or significantly different from what you booked, for example because the government of your country or of Uzbekistan advises against travel there, we offer you a changed route or other dates. If you do not want them, or we cannot run the trip at all, either of us may cancel it with no cancellation charge, and we refund everything you have paid.
If such an event disrupts your trip once it has started, we change the plan to keep it as close as we can to what you booked. We refund the part of the price for any service we could neither provide nor replace. If the event means extra nights or transport, we arrange them and you pay what they cost; travel insurance usually covers this.
Beyond what this section says, neither of us owes the other compensation for the effects of such events.
Passports, visas and permits
You are responsible for travelling with a valid passport and the visas each country on your route requires, and for meeting their entry rules. Your passport must be valid for long enough: for Turkmenistan, at least six months from the day you enter.
When we confirm your booking, we tell you the entry and visa rules for your passport, any health requirements, the customs and border rules of each country on your route, and who to contact in an emergency. Rules change, so we check them again before you travel. We provide any invitation or support letters you need, and we arrange the Turkmen visa and the permits for the Pamirs and for Turkmenistan's border areas.
If your route leaves Uzbekistan and comes back, as from Khiva to Bukhara through Turkmenistan, a visa for Uzbekistan must allow more than one entry.
Visas and permits are issued at the authorities' discretion, and no one can guarantee them. Unless your proposal includes them, visa fees and fees charged at borders are yours to pay; some borders take them only in US dollars, in cash.
If you cannot travel, or are refused entry, because your passport, visa or other documents are not in order, that counts as a cancellation by you, unless it is because of wrong information we gave you. A refused Turkmen visa is covered in the next section.
Turkmenistan
Turkmenistan issues tourist visas only through a licensed Turkmen agency, which applies on your behalf with a letter of invitation or for the electronic visa, whichever applies. We arrange this for you. The authorities decide at their discretion, often without giving a reason.
We need a copy of each traveller's passport and a photo as soon as you book, because approval can take several weeks. Once it is approved, the route, including where you enter and leave the country, is fixed. A licensed Turkmen guide is with you throughout your time there.
If the visa is refused, that is not a cancellation by you, and the cancellation charges do not apply. We offer you the same number of days in Uzbekistan instead, at no extra cost. Or, if you prefer, we take the Turkmen part out of your trip and its price off the trip price, keeping only the fees already paid in Turkmenistan that cannot be recovered, such as for the invitation and visa support, and we refund anything you have paid above the new price. Your proposal shows these fees. This applies unless the visa is refused because information you gave us was wrong or incomplete, or your passport did not meet the rules; then it counts as a cancellation of the Turkmen part by you, and the cancellation charges apply to that part.
The rest of your trip goes ahead as booked. If you decide not to travel at all, cancelling the rest is a cancellation by you, and the usual charges apply to it.
Travel insurance
Travel insurance that covers medical treatment and emergency evacuation for the whole trip is a condition of booking. Several of our routes reach mountains and desert far from a good hospital.
Please send us the name of your insurer, your policy number and the insurer's emergency telephone number before you travel, so that we can act quickly if you need help. If your trip includes horse riding, trekking or high altitude, check that your policy covers them.
We strongly recommend cover for cancellation as well. It can pay the cancellation charges if you have to cancel for a reason the policy covers, such as illness, and the cost of unused services if you have to cut the trip short.
Health, safety and conduct
Tell us before you book about any health condition, mobility limit, diet or other need that could affect your trip. We adapt the pace, the hotels and the driving where we can, and we tell you honestly if part of a route is not suitable.
Some trips are demanding: long drives on rough roads, border crossings on foot with your luggage, desert heat, and cold nights at altitude. Your proposal says what to expect. Activities such as horse riding and hiking are your choice; if you take part, follow the instructions of your guide and of the people who run them.
Respect the laws, customs and religion of the countries you visit, and dress modestly at religious sites. Do not photograph military sites, border posts or government buildings. Ask us before bringing a drone, which several of these countries restrict.
If your behaviour puts others at risk or breaks the law, we may end your trip, with no refund for the rest of it. You pay for any damage you cause.
Our responsibility to you
We are responsible for providing every service in your confirmed booking as described, with reasonable care and skill. That includes the services others provide for us: the hotels, guides, drivers, railways and airlines we book, and any partner company we use in Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan or Turkmenistan.
If something is not as agreed, we put it right as quickly as we can. If we cannot, we offer a suitable alternative at no extra cost. For anything that was still not as agreed, we reduce the price and compensate you for any loss it caused you, except as set out below.
We owe neither a price reduction nor compensation when a problem is caused by you or someone in your party. We do not owe compensation when it is caused by someone unconnected with your trip in a way we could not foresee or avoid, or by events beyond our control; you still get back the price of any service we could neither provide nor replace. Nor are we responsible for services outside your booking, such as your international flights or anything you arrange and pay for yourself in the country.
Except for death, personal injury and harm caused deliberately or through negligence, our liability is limited to three times the trip price. Where an international agreement limits what an airline, railway or other carrier must pay, the same limit applies to us for that service.
Nothing in these conditions excludes or limits any liability that the law does not allow to be excluded or limited, or takes away any right you have by law.
If something goes wrong
If something is wrong during your trip, tell your guide or message us straight away. Most problems can be put right the same day, but only if we know about them. If you tell us only afterwards, we may no longer be able to check or fix it, and that can be taken into account in any claim.
If you are still not satisfied, please write to us within 30 days after the trip ends, while the hotels, guides and drivers can still be asked what happened. Include the details and any photos or receipts. We confirm that we have received it within 7 days and give you a full answer within 30 days.
Your personal details
To arrange your trip we need personal details of everyone travelling, including passport details, and sometimes details of health or diet. We use them only to arrange and run the trip and to keep the records the law requires.
Besides the services that run our own systems, which the Privacy page names, we pass your details only to those who need them for your trip: the hotels, which must register their guests with the authorities; railways and airlines; any partner company we use in Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan or Turkmenistan; and the authorities that issue invitations, visas and permits. Some of them are outside Uzbekistan. We keep the records of your booking for as long as the law requires.
When you book, you confirm that everyone in your party has agreed to their details being used in this way. The Privacy page on this site explains how we handle personal data and the rights you have.
Law and disputes
These conditions and your contract with us are governed by the laws of the Republic of Uzbekistan.
If we disagree about anything, we will first try to settle it between us, by talking and finding a fair solution. If we cannot, the dispute goes to the courts of Tashkent.
None of this takes away any protection that the mandatory consumer law of the country where you live gives you, including any right it gives you to bring a claim in your own country's courts.
These conditions are published in English, Russian and Uzbek, and the three versions have the same meaning. If they ever differ, the version in the language you booked in applies.
